If you want a quick escape from the city this summer and don't feel like heading to the beach, consider going on a picnic, instead!
Studies have shown that trees can help cool the temperature and clean the air, making areas with a higher tree density another great way to beat the heat. Plus, being surrounded by trees is good for your overall well-being!
Here are 3 recommended picnic spots in Manila you should check out:
U.P. Diliman Campus Grounds
At U.P. Diliman, you can find beautiful picnic spots, admire stunning architectural gems, enjoy art in the park, and engage in recreational activities. The campus is conveniently situated near schools, malls, and residential areas, making it an ideal destination for a fun-filled day out.
Rizal Park Luneta, Manila Rizal Park, also known as Luneta, is a historic site that is perfect for spending quality time with family and friends. The park offers numerous green areas, including themed gardens like the Chinese and Japanese gardens, where you can lay out your picnic mats, relax and unwind.
Clarkfield, Pampanga
Clarkfield in Pampanga is a great destination if you're looking for a quick getaway up north, just 2 hours away from Manila. You can enjoy a picnic, pitch a tent, fly a kite, play frisbee, take a leisurely stroll, or visit the nearby cafes and restaurants. Clarkfield has something to offer for everyone!

Picnic in UP Diliman Glee's one of my best friends from college and we planned this picnic day and meet up during one of the Philippine holidays! I loved how we both prepared things and food to bring for this picnic. We ate tuna sandwiches, kamote chips, onigiris, and fruit jelly cups with iced coffee. There was time for a leisurely stroll around the campus and take in the greenery, the sunlight before heading back.
