The ingredients towards embracing #life transitions and stepping beyond #comfortzones.

Change often presents itself as overwhelming especially when it is unexpected and sudden.

In my primary years, I've been quite timid, bashful, and quiet in class. I'm not one to immediately volunteer and I'd often get nervous when I'm called out. Maybe that is also the reason why comfort zones exist and going beyond it means crossing a border to something less familiar, different, and "so unlike me"; hence, the change!

I eventually overcame that self in high school. An openness, and a willingness, to try new things, paved the way for me to adapt to change with ease and go out of my comfort zone. It was from there that I realized experiences may have several outcomes; are meant to be both good and bad; and from which we shall learn.

A "new thing" can simply mean being adventurous with food, giving a beauty trend a chance, or exploring a new form of leisure activity or fashion style. Gradually switching things up in your lifestyle and mindset enables new experiences which form insight, judgment, and added knowledge. In the bigger picture, these are facets of change that one can adjust.

SUGAR: imported carbohydrates, Shake Shack

When I speak of sugar, I mean trends and pop culture. Participating in the current can open up conversations, build new communities, and form new experiences.

The talk of the town NYC food chain recently opened up a branch in Bonifacio Global City. I've been familiar with Shake Shack but haven't been to any establishment abroad. I knew I had to try it for myself.

FOOD

The past year had me leaning towards consuming more vegetarian food. I've so far tasted two kinds of mushroom burgers: one from Mushroomburger and the other from TGI Fridays and they both were, for me, delicious! ( I think you have to take into account that I LOVE MUSHROOMS hehe). I then became curious about the Shake Shack version and I don't regret ordering it!

I do recommend the cheese fries and milkshake. If you're adventurous, then give the 'shroom burger a try but if you want the original, stick to the shack burger (it's real Angus beef!)

SERVICE & CAPACITY

Because I visited during work hours (probably the best times are between 2:30 pm to 5 pm), the line wasn't as long as expected. I only waited for about ten minutes in line and another ten for it to be prepared and served. I adored the condiments area for its completeness and the tables were also adequate to accommodate roughly 50 guests.

SPICE: not just a photo space but an online platform for shopping, Instagram

I'm a traditional shopper. I like going to the mall, entering stores to window shop and skim through racks, haul clothes which I deemed my style or what I thought was beautiful and proceed to the fitting room to try out the pieces. I also like looking at mannequin displays which give ideas on how to style the clothes. Adding spice in my life (*SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!*) meant breaking away from my usuals or traditions.

Today, innovative ways for consumer convenience are emerging through online platforms. Instagram shops are widespread and not a day goes by where you won't come across a sponsored ad (hah!). I wanted to be enlightened as to why most become addicted to or perhaps a better term, prefer, online shopping; hence, my trying.

PAYMENT & DELIVERY

Payments are surprisingly efficient & convenient with bank options and methods of payment. Sellers accept either by the counter or online payments and shoppers need only to send a deposit slip copy or screenshot of their payment to the seller.

Deliveries are well organized and sellers provide their courier options by location and inform you of your tracking number once delivery is set.

QUALITY

I think what most shoppers are concerned with is the photo to actual comparison. So far, the shops I've bought from have provided detailed descriptions and notes of their items. Color, sizing, and fit have been accurate and clothes are either brand new or well taken care of.

While I still prefer mall shopping because of my ability to assess the items in actual (like feel the cloth and fit it), I've grown comfortable with online shopping and have bought a number of items for the last few weeks!

TIPS

1. Read and take note of the clothes descriptions and notes.

2. Open the highlights section for instructions and message the seller for clarification.

3. Always choose the most convenient payment option for you and remember to inform the seller of your payment.

4. Be responsible to keep track of the delivery.

5. Also know how to assess the online shop you wish to purchase from. While there are bogus buyers, it won't hurt if you're cautious with bogus sellers. *note: legit sellers have either a website or a story highlight with feedbacks/reviews or both! They’re also transparent with their mode of deliveries.

Below is a list of IG shops which I've tried:

- shop.oc: street style clothing

- cabo. ph: Korean style clothing

- shopflorice: vintage pieces

- clothes for breakfast: femme Parisian style wear

EVERYTHING NICE: entering the green sphere with a herbal hair treatment, Bee Choo Origins

An everything nice life ingredient is engaging in causes you support or at least believe in. Because I love the earth, I've decided on improving and being more conscious of my lifestyle. I‘m beginning with practicing some sustainable living methods and using eco-friendly products.

One of the recommendations of my mom is a Bee Choo Origins herbal hair treatment which uses a mud-like paste mixture of various herbs. Its meant to relax repair, and renew your hair, resolving issues of "hair loss, oily scalp, dandruff, gray/white hair, and chemically damaged hair."

After treatment effects include hair color change to a tinge of mahogany, scarlet, or auburn, depending on its reaction to your current hair color and leaving traces of a moscovado sugar scent for two to three days! Maintaining a monthly treatment is recommended in order to see long term results.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice are my suggested life ingredients towards transitioning to and accepting change and leaving a comfort zone. They’ve become my training ground in embracing more complex changes as I adult in my career, aspirations, and come into terms with certain realities. :)
